The Fundación Kareema has taken a decisive step in its commitment to education and technological development by sponsoring the new Fintech Chair at the University of Malaga (UMA), a project that aims to lead the digital transformation of the financial sector. Presented on October 23 at the UMA Rectorate, this chair marks the beginning of a collaboration that seeks to revolutionize education and access to financial services through technology.

During the presentation, Nadia Gil, president of the Fundación Kareema, highlighted that the organization’s mission is “to provide access to educational and financial resources to help individuals and non-profit entities grow and improve their environment.” With this goal in mind, the foundation has launched this chair as a platform to foster financial innovation and inclusion, utilizing cutting-edge technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, and big data.

The Fundación Kareema, known for its philanthropic work and focus on resource democratization, has found the perfect partner in the University of Malaga to carry out this ambitious project. “Education is key to sustainable development and to creating opportunities for access to services that were previously out of reach for many”. Under her leadership, the foundation has continually sought initiatives that not only impact the academic community but also generate positive change in society.

For his part, UMA’s rector, Teodomiro López, emphasized the value of this collaboration. The Fintech Chair, led by Professor Jesús Molina, aims to position the university as an international leader in advanced financial technologies. This project will not only benefit engineering and economics students but will also strengthen ties between academia and the business sector, facilitating research and knowledge transfer.

Cristian Gil, vice president of the Fundación Kareema, stressed that the chair will not only provide students with technical knowledge but will also enhance their ability to lead in an increasingly competitive market. “We want this chair to be a bridge between academia and the business world, and to train the professionals who will lead financial innovation in the coming years,” he stated.

The Fundación Kareema, through this chair, also places a strong emphasis on internationalization. The chair has already been presented in cities such as Lyon and Chicago, and its activities, which include hackathons, awards for research projects, and training programs, are expected to attract students and experts from around the world.

With this initiative, the Fundación Kareema reaffirms its commitment to creating educational and technological opportunities, demonstrating that collaboration between philanthropic and academic entities is essential to driving the development of innovative solutions that promote sustainability and financial inclusion on a global scale.
